Synthetic Opal for Collectors:
Back/Zurück

This is synthetic Opal from Japan, but it is not made by Gilson who is famous for its Opal, but also more expensive.

It is termed "synthetic", but it still contains approx. 20% resin. I rather call it "simulant-opal", as there is resin in it. Compared to real simulant it is the silica which creates the colour, so it is difficult to classify.

It is not easy to see that it is not natural Opal, but the patterns are very much alike, and rather boring.

For dealers and collectors it may be interesting to have such a sample card to show to customers about the difference compared to natural opal.

You can order this card for 150.-sFr. Delivery time depends upon availability as I do not stock it.
